Mazda Engine Not Working

It can be easy to panic the next time your car doesn't start. You may not know if there are issues with the engine or if the car has reached the end of its lifespan. Fortunately, this is often an easy fix with the help of a technician and isn't always as serious of an issue as you may assume.

A Bad Starter

Most drivers don't give a lot of attention to their starter until their car doesn't start. The starter is directly connected to the battery under the hood of the car and acts as a small motor. You may notice the engine doesn't crank when you try to use your vehicle. A technician will need to examine the part to determine if this is the cause of the issue and replace the piece to make your car operate again.

A Lack of Fuel

It can be easy to continue driving around throughout the week and forget to fill up on gas. Once the tank is empty, your car won't turn on or operate. It's important to have a full gas can on hand to ensure your car starts up again. With older models, the gas tank indicator may also be inaccurate and can show you that you have enough gas in the tank when really it's empty. A technician can test the indicator and determine if any repairs are needed.

A Clogged Fuel Filter

The fuel filter may seem like a small part of your car but is responsible for filtering out contaminants. It's prone to becoming clogged if you don't replace it around 20,000 miles. Read the owner's manual to determine if you've waited too long to replace the part. Newer models can often go longer before you need to replace them.

Faulty Ignition

Your car's ignition can also prevent your engine from starting. You may notice the headlights and battery are still operating well, but you can't get the engine to start. A professional technician can evaluate the parts to determine the underlying cause. They can replace the ignition to ensure your car is up and running again without further issues that develop.
