What's New for the 2018 Mazda CX-5?

The 2018 Mazda CX-5 is the latest vehicle from Mazda to hit the open market and their newest for the CX-5 model line this year. For 2018, the CX-5 has many of the similarities seen in the previous model from last year, when it was already redesigned. Special cylinder-deactivation technology has been added but the Grand Select Trim level line has is no longer used this time around

Trims & Features

The 2018 CX-5, being a new vehicle, does have its own set of different trim levels with their own special features and amenities added to them. The CX-5 has three trim levels: the Sport, the Touring and Grand Touring. The Sport level trim is the basic standard level for this model and has standard features such as 17-inch wheels, folding and reclining split-rear seats, a four-speaker stereo system and a special rearview camera for parking. The Touring trim adds some upgraded features to the vehicle, with them being things like 19-inch wheels, keyless ignition and entry into the vehicle, automatic climate control for dual zones, six audio speakers and simulated leather upholstery. The Grand Touring is even more upgraded with more features like memory settings for the driver seats, special LED fog lights and taillights, satellite radio access and a heads-up display monitor for the Premium package.

Horsepower

The 2018 Mazda CX-5 has been fitted with a sturdy engine capable to keeping a vehicle of its size running at peak efficiency. The CX-5's engine can produce a 187 horsepower rating at up to 6,000 wheel rotations per minute and up to 186 feet per pounds of torque on average. The engine also runs on variable valve timing with inline 4 cylinders, a front wheel drive train and a base 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission. The car runs on regular unleaded fuel and has an EPA with a combined 28 miles per gallon*, getting up to 25 MPG* when driving through the city and 31 when riding on the highway.

2018 Mazda CX-5 ExteriorThe Mazda CX-5 is built for drivers and passengers and as such, contains many special safety features and protocols to make it an enjoyable ride. Being a new ride means adding in some new changes, starting with rear door safety locks and child seating anchors, in order to ensure the safety of any younger passengers. With an upgraded model comes improved traction and stability control, as well as additional features like an engine immobilizer. Additional new features include a pre-collision and post-collision safety system in the event of a car accident and the status of the car needs to be checked right away. Emergency braking preparation upgrades have also been included for dealing with the potential failure of the brakes, as well as emergency braking assist. Turn signal mirrors have also been included and a blind spot warning system for accident avoidance is also available for preventing accidents in the first place.
