Mazda describes its CX-70 as being "built for passionate pursuits." If you're passionate about your daily adventures and prefer a splash of luxury in life, this V6 turbocharged SUV is right for you. Both the Preferred and Premium Plus trims will be popular this year, and we're here to help you find the one that best matches your needs.
Performance
The turbocharged Preferred trim comes with a 280-horsepower e-Skyactiv- G 3.3L engine. It also gets a 48V M Hybrid Boost and an incredible range of features that smooth out performance and keep the model steady. You can expect the Premium Plus trim to include a few performance boosters to make it worth your purchase, but both trims will deliver powerful performance. The Premium Plus has a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, while the Preferred trim has a max towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
Appearance
An elegant array of colors is available for both the Preferred and the Premium Plus. Choose from exterior colors like Zircon Sand Metallic, Soul Red Crystal Metallic, and Melting Copper Metallic. Wheel choices differ between the two trims: the Preferred gets 21" aluminum alloy wheels with a Black Metallic finish, while the Premium Plus trims start with 21" wheels and get a gloss black finish.
Features
The CX-70 is known for its driver-assist features and was a 2025 IIHS Top Safety Pick+. You can expect the same excellence to carry over for the 2026 model year. Preferred trims come with standard features like Sport/Off-Road modes to tailor your drive, but the Premium Plus adds a towing mode that's very important to some buyers. Only the Premium Plus comes with Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The Premium Plus also has the distinction of being the only one of these trims to boast Nappa leather-trimmed seats, a very important flash of luxury that many buyers will want to take advantage of. Still, the Preferred is an extremely luxurious model as well and does have leather-trimmed seats standard. If you want a power sliding-glass panoramic moonroof with tilt, Premium Plus is the trim to go for.
