Specs at a Glance

2024 Mazda CX-5 vs 2024 Mazda CX-50

In a battle between two Mazda crossover SUVs, there are no losers. Choosing either of these models gives you extraordinary versatility and comfort in daily life. They make great showpieces for social events and wonderful family SUVs, too. Our dealership confidently recommends both the CX-5 and CX-50, but we'd like to remind our customers that each offers a different suite of features and a unique design. One might be more right for you than the other.

Performance

The CX-5 comes with a SKYACTIV-G 2.5L engine rated at 187 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. That's just a slight difference from the CX-50, a model that gets 186 lb-ft of torque. Both also get a 6-speed SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission with fun manual shift modes. The CX-5 also gets a sport mode that won't be available on the CX-50.

Appearance

A Mazda CX-5 features palpable differences from the CX-50. Both look luxurious and modern, but the CX-5 gets body-colored power side mirrors, and the CX-50 has blacked-out power side mirrors. Fancy exterior accents also differ. For example, you'll get a bright signature wind and a front grille with a gloss black finish on the CX-5. The CX-50 offers extravagant exterior features like dual exhaust outlets with a bright finish and a rear power liftgate with programmable height adjustment.

Features

The Mazda interior is one reason so many people choose an SUV from this automaker. Thanks to standard push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control with pollen filter, and cozy 5-passenger seating for both models, you'll get a VIP experience from the very start of both models. Their full 10.25-inch color touchscreen display is another powerful reason that either of these models is a great pick for our customers. There are slight differences to be aware of, though. The CX-50 has a 12-speaker premium Bose audio system. A CX-5 will also get you a Bose premium sound system, but it'll come with ten speakers instead. That's a big difference for someone trying to grab the most advanced speaker system for their SUV. The CX-5 will also offer more upholstery choices. It's available in Red, Black, or Parchment leather. If you choose the 2024 CX-50 model, it starts with a Black leatherette with gray accents, and it's also available in Black leatherette with Brown accents
