Specs at a Glance
If you’re in the market for a new SUV, Mazda’s current lineup will leave you impressed. When shopping for an SUV, some Mazda fans will be choosing between the 2025 Mazda CX-30 and the 2025 Mazda CX-50. While the CX-30 is classified as a subcompact model, the larger CX-50 competes in the compact segment. Let’s take a closer look at how these two Mazda SUVs compare.
Performance
The Mazda CX-30 comes standard with a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine rated to develop a competitive 191 horsepower. However, a turbocharged version of this engine is available for the CX-30. Mazda rates it to develop up to 250 horsepower, thus promoting rapid acceleration. An i-Activ AWD system comes standard throughout the CX-30 lineup. Like the CX-50, the CX-30 benefits from G-Vectoring Control Plus. This feature helps ensure especially stable handling around corners.
A 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine also comes standard on the CX-50. Total production is a satisfying 187 horsepower. Stepping up to the CX-50’s turbocharged engine increases output to 250 horsepower. While the CX-30 is not recommended for towing, the turbocharged CX-50 boasts a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. Outdoor lovers can also take advantage of the CX-50’s Off-Road mode, which enhances traction on slippery trails.
Appearance
The smaller CX-30’s sporty profile will cause plenty of heads to turn. LED headlights and attractive alloy wheels come standard. While even the base model looks remarkably stylish, appearance upgrades enable the higher trim levels to demand more attention. Premium paint colors, such as Polymetal Gray Metallic and Soul Red Crystal Metallic, are available as well.
Expect the larger CX-50 to also catch your eye. Like the CX-30, it benefits from Mazda’s sporty “Soul of Motion” design philosophy. This ultimately translates to an incredibly sleek and athletic appearance. Many of the same exterior colors are also available for the CX-50.
Features
Regardless of which one of these SUVs you choose, you can look forward to experiencing a luxurious drive. Both vehicles are equipped with a modern Mazda Connect interface. While the CX-30 has a standard 8.8-inch infotainment screen, the CX-50 features a 10.3-inch screen. Both vehicles offer a high-performance Bose sound system with advanced Centerpoint technology. Most importantly, these two SUVs come standard with a full suite of i-Activsense advanced safety features.
