Specs at a Glance
If you’re in the market for a new SUV, don’t miss out on Mazda’s latest lineup. While the 2024 Mazda CX-50 is a popular compact model, the all-new 2024 Mazda CX-70 is perfect for families needing more space to stretch out. Let’s take a closer look at how these two SUVs compare.
Performance
The CX-50 is definitely fun to drive. Its base powertrain features a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine, which produces a satisfying 187 horsepower. Drivers who demand more performance can opt for the turbocharged version of this engine, which develops 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive comes standard.
Underneath the larger CX-70’s hood rests a 3.3-liter, turbo six-cylinder engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. While the standard version produces 280 horsepower, the high-output variant generates an even more exciting 340 horsepower. A plug-in hybrid powertrain is also offered on the CX-70. Mazda rates it to develop 323 horsepower. Along with the plug-in hybrid powertrain comes an all-electric driving mode. Like the CX-50, the CX-70 benefits from a standard AWD system. One of the CX-70’s biggest highlights is its 5,000-pound maximum towing capacity.
Appearance
For good reason, many drivers gravitate towards the CX-50’s dynamic exterior styling. The CX-50’s entry-level trim features 17-inch black alloy wheels and LED headlights. However, available 20-inch wheels promote an especially bold stance. All-terrain tires come equipped on the CX-50’s adventure-ready Turbo Meridian Edition trim. Some of the available exterior colors include Windchill Pearl, Polymetal Gray Metallic, and Soul Red Crystal Metallic.
Although the CX-70 isn’t offered in as many trim levels, it still has an eye-catching appearance. Available blacked-out treatments help create an especially dramatic look. If desired, you can obtain the CX-70 with a stunning set of 21-inch alloy wheels.
Features
The CX-50 packs more than enough features to keep technology lovers happy. It comes standard with a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. If you want to upgrade the sound of your music, step up to the 12-speaker Bose high-performance audio system. Wireless charging, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats are also available.
An even larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and black leather upholstery come standard on the CX-70. This SUV also gives you access to Mazda’s new online navigation system.
