Updating the maps in your Mazda is a great way to ensure you don’t get lost the next time you’re headed out to an area where you’ve never been before. If you’re planning an upcoming road trip, this is something that you should add to your to-do list in addition to packing and scheduling a routine maintenance appointment. If you’ve recently invested in a Mazda from Joe Myers Mazda, we’d like to provide you with step-by-step instructions on how you should update these maps periodically. We recommended doing this once every six months or so for the most updated information.

Before starting, locate the SD card that is in your Mazda vehicle. If you’re unsure where to find your card, your owner’s manual will give you the location for your specific model. You can also give us a call if you’re having trouble locating it. Head to your computer with your SD card, and let’s get started!

Updating Navigation in Your Mazda

If you have never updated your navigation system before, you’ll need to download the Mazda Toolbox program available on the main Mazda website. Upon installation and opening the program, you’ll be asked to insert your SD card into your computer. Make sure that the card registers as being added before you continue with this process.

Log in to your Mazda account on the program. Your computer will ask you if you want to back up your current SD card information. This is absolutely something that you want to do before proceeding with any updates.

When you click on “Updates,” you’ll be able to see what new information is available for download. Create a recent backup of your updated files once your installation is complete.

Remove your SD card from your computer, and install it back into your Mazda. You will follow the same steps each time that you need to update your information.

If you’re having issues with the updates or you can’t entirely navigate the Toolbox program, give us a call at Joe Myers Mazda. We’d be happy to help you with any concerns that you have.
